Erica Scott: Life, Love and Spanking

Ruminations, opinionated observations, darkly humorous blathering and the occasional rant from an outspoken spanko and unapologetic attention wh–, um, hog.

Some odds and ends about John

Earlier this week, Hermione posted a meme that asks questions about our mates. I thought it would be fun to fill it out for my sweetheart.

1. He’s sitting in front of the TV, what is on the screen?
History channel or CNN.

2. You’re out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad?
Vinaigrette.

3. The most striking thing about his physical appearance?
Hard to choose just one, but long, muscular legs.

4. You go out to eat and have a drink; what does he order?
Imported beer or red wine.

5. Where did he go to high school?
LaSalle High (Catholic private school, which was all boys at the time. Yech!)

6. What size shoe does he wear?
Size 12.

7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be?
Books.

8. What is his favorite type of sandwich?
Veggie burger.

9. What would he eat every day if he could?
Dark chocolate, sushi, barbecue potato chips.

10. What is his favorite cereal?
Oatmeal.

11. What would he never wear?
Tennis shoes.

12. What is his favorite sports team?
He’s not into sports.

13. Who did he vote for?
Same guy I voted for. 🙂

14. Who is his best friend?
Me!

15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn’t do?
Horrible-ize (imagine the worst-case scenario in things).

16. What is his heritage?
Some Irish, I think.

17. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind?
Bake? What is this bake? Would buy German chocolate or carrot cake.

18. Did he play sports in high school?
Probably just gym. He was more of a science geek than a jock.

19. What could he spend hours doing?
Reading.

20. What is one unique talent he has?
He makes me laugh harder than anyone else can.

Things are quiet here in blogging land. I’m getting a lot of views, but very few comments (unless you count all the @#$%ing spam that Blogger is getting lately!). It’s maddening; I get spam comments in my inbox, so I send them to the spam folder. Then I check the spam folder and see that legitimate messages have gone in there. Stupid!

Also, does anyone know a simple, free program I could use to reduce the file size of videos? Mr. D’s camera is HD and his video files end up being huge, even though they’re only a minute or two. I tried loading one of them to Spanking Tube, but it was 1.1 GB and their limit is 750 MB. The webmaster very kindly reduced it for me, but I’d like to be able to do it myself. I tried a program called Any Video Converter, but it was impossible to figure out and their support email was no help at all, so I uninstalled it.

Hope everyone is having a peaceful week.

  1. It's odd. "Subscribe by email" to follow comments results at one time or another in getting an ad comment. I have outstanding such subscriptions from posts going back years and then, occasionally, one of those random bits of spam will pop up and appear in my inbox as a new comment posted. Frustrating.

  2. Craig — I don't subscribe to any blogs, so I don't get those. But I get a ton of my own spam. Blogger's filter is iffy — sometimes they put the kibosh on the spam, and other times they get through onto the blog and I have to delete them manually.

  5. I never baked a thing in my 43 year old life. LOLThe no tennis shoes wearing is surprising to me since he's so physically fit. SEMI related true story. Some older man at my gym who it was believed to be senile once attempted to step on a treadmill wearing flip flops, a tank top and tighty whities. And YES-humor is a vital part of happy coupledom. 🙂

  6. Kelly — I do bake on occasion, but not cakes! Brownies are more my speed. John has very expensive biking shoes, but when he does his weights/pushups/situps at home, he's barefoot. And he'd live in Teva sandals if he could.

  7. Erica, I would agree with Johm, on Question #15. There are times, when you are so very down on life. If there is one thing I have found in life. People who seem to be pessimistic, seem to age quicker. So please Erica, look more at the BRIGHT side of life, And you will stay YOUNG forever.

  10. Erica,The program you probably want for converting your videos from large HD size to small web-appropriate size is Handbrake. It's a free program designed to convert just about any video file to any other format. you can get a copy from here: http://handbrake.fr/downloads.phpAnd there is a guide on how to install/use Handbrake on Windows here: https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/WindowsGuiGuide

  11. Love the bake comment. Have you ever baked John a cake?I'm getting a ton of spam comments. I think it was Hermione who advised to turn moderation on for a while. Sorry can't help on the video programme.Hope you have a good weekend.Love,Ronniexx

  12. Anonymous — thank you so much! 🙂 I will look into that.Ronnie — hmmm. I have baked him brownies and cookies, but not a whole cake, not that I can recall. I did turn on moderation for comments on posts going back past a month — that helps, but there's still the day-to-day. Meh. First-world problems. 🙂

  13. I thought the baking comment was funny. I have baked a cake, I think, in home ec along time ago. I have baked cookies, mostly. I have to tell you a really funny one: when I was in 8th grade, I took home ec. We were divided in to four groups and the day before we were going to bake cupcakes, we mixed the dry ingredients. The next day, we baked them. One of the groups got the amount of baking soda mixed up. Instead of putting in 1 1/8th tsp. they put in 1 1/2 tbsp! Most of the mix went out of the cupcake cups all over the oven and left just a bit around the edges of the cups. We went around to the teachers with these "cup cakes." Complements of the Howe Ave. Home Ec Department. What made it so funny is that the day we baked them was April 1 and totally unplanned. We had a good laugh out of it, including the teacher.

  14. Bobbie Jo — I have a feeling that's not the first time people have screwed up with baking soda. What a mess! I enjoy baking, sort of, as long as it's not anything too complicated. I once tried to make a pumpkin walnut cheesecake for Thanksgiving. I had to borrow a cheesecake pan, it was a huge sticky mess to bake, and then hardly anyone touched it because they'd eaten too much and it was too rich. Forget it!

  16. Erica, what made it doubly funny was that it happened on April 1st. Totally unplanned. That day was hilarious for other reasons. One of the teachers knew a prof in the bio department at Sac State so they borrowed a skeleton. Before the principal got there, they put some of his clothes on the skeleton and set it at his desk. They propped the feet up on the desk and put the hands behind the head. Sometimes I think the teachers were worse than us kids when it came to practical jokes.

  18. Hi Erica, It is CJ one of these days I will figure out why your blog does not take my wordpress logon. Oh well… I stopped by because I was flipping through some of my videos and came by one of you and Samantha "English School" from FirmHand. Really enjoyed viewing them. Plus I had fun reading your answers for John. You have a good one there. I remember him sneaking back to buy you a bracelet at moonshine, so he could surprise you. Good ones are few and far between. Take Care,CJ

  19. CJ — long time no talk! Well, it must have been someone else who resembles me (poor soul!), because I've never worked for Firm Hand. Their cut-off age for bottoms is 35; at least it was last time I looked. And although I saw her many times in social occasions, I never had the pleasure of working with Samantha.Yeah, I do have a good one. 🙂 That was a fun memory.

  20. More commonalities! I horrible-ize and don't bake cakes either. So if he doesn't wear tennis shoes, what does he wear?

  21. Lea — waitaminnit! Didn't you make a Peeps cake recently? John wears biking shoes, Teva sandals, work boots and dress shoes. But no sneakers, ever.

  22. Size 12 shoes?! damn. You know what they say about men with big feet right? (Size 11.5 myself) I remember working for a partner who thought he was really cool but had hair that was slightly too long, still wore 90's ties, and had a mustache that was straight from the 70's. He also had a creepy reputation with the ladies in the office. One late night a couple of the associates joked about how he fancied himself john holmes… to which the paralegals laughed uproariously -apparently the similarities had occurred to them too –until one of them pointed out that his shoes were size 7 1/2 which elicited a bit more laughter!
