Oh, and the story goes that the other band members noticed their young lead singer, bespectacled Peter Noone, was a dead ringer for Sherman. (R&B, meaning, this time, Rocky and Bullwinkle, was a big hit over in Jolly Old, too.) So “Sherman” was shortened to “Herman,” and the rest of 'em became alliterative “Hermits.”
