The abyss
Sometimes…
I think
my life
may be
only a dream.
No such luck
Sorry.
— Me. Age 16.
Going dark for a little while, kids. See you when I climb out.

Damn. May the dark be short and the light bright.

When you are ready, turn the lights on, open the shades and let the light shine.

Yes, take your time but know you aren’t really alone. So many readers in your corner rooting hard for you.

I’ve been thinking of you. Churchill called his depression his “black dog.” I hope you are suffering from a black dog that came on its own rather than a real life disaster that brought it along. The black dog goes away slowly and reluctantly, but it does go. Been there. Take care of yourself.

If we could we would jump down into that hole with you so you could climb out on our shoulders. But I know we can’t do that. We can only show our support though words of encouragement and to let you know you’re in our thoughts. Having cracks in your life has its upside, it’s through cracks that the light is able to come in. Note to 16 year old Erica, I’m glad your life isn’t just a dream because you grew up to bless so many people!

I know you know what works best for you in these dark times. I have found that a cathartic spanking at bed time followed by heaving sobs and tears seems to turns things around by morning. Endorphins and all that. Best wishes and hoping you feel better soon.
