Erica Scott: Life, Love and Spanking

Ruminations, opinionated observations, darkly humorous blathering and the occasional rant from an outspoken spanko and unapologetic attention wh–, um, hog.

All over the map today

The pre-party jitters have settled in for the duration. I probably should have passed on the caffeinated coffee this morning. Besides being keyed up over SL, I’m still on a high from the shoot last week and my book coming out, so there is a bit of overload happening. Deep breaths, Erica. I know I’m setting myself up for a spectacular drop, but I’ll worry about that later.

The preparations are in gear. Already got the pedicure (I don’t bother with manicures; my fingernails are hideous, so I just cut them short) and the haircut, and banished those pesky gray hairs. I tore my closet apart yesterday, trying on outfits. Usually I buy something new for these parties, but this year, money is especially tight. So I’m recycling.

Today is laundry day and my last trip to the gym for a few days. Tomorrow will be a whirlwind of last-minute odds and ends. Yes, I know, I’m only going away for three days. I’m not moving to Siberia. But this is what I do.

Anyway, I have a bunch of shout-outs today. The wonderful Zelle is at it again, singing my book’s praises on her blog. I nearly fell over in my chair laughing when I saw her clever Photoshop of me emerging from a coffee cup (go look). Thank you, my friend! What are your publicist rates? I owe you a bundle by now.

There’s a new book in the spanko world! The Spanking Writers (Abel and Haron) have put together an anthology of spanking stories from various writers, entitled The Spanking Collection. And here’s the best part: all proceeds from the book will be donated to cancer research. Please check it out.

Sending out my best wishes and warm hugs to the beautiful Pixie, who is home recovering from surgery. She’s had a tough year and I hope things look up for her very soon. I really am fond of that girl.

This week, The Villain and Dana Kane are relocating to Las Vegas. Las Vegas’s gain is definitely L.A.’s loss! (sniff) But they have both assured me they will be back here regularly, including for Spanking Court shoots. Last week when I told V, “I don’t want you guys to move away!”, he laughed and said, “Ah, we’re just over the hill!” Over the hill, he says. I wish I were so laid back about a 4-5 hour drive! Anyway… I wish them the very best on their move.

Last but definitely not least, that wonderful UPT (Ultra-Popular Top) Richard Windsor offered to shoot a little book promo video with me at the party, to put on Spanking Tube. You’ll see a very different Richard from the one who shot the interview with me last year — a lot less of him, to be specific. What is it now, Rich — 80 pounds down? Somewhere around there. 🙂 Fabulous.

All right… must go be productive.

Drum roll, please!

Ladies and gentlemen, we have….

I am over the moon with this. Look at the absolutely gorgeous job that Zelle did for me. This represents a lot of meticulous work and I am beyond grateful to her.

She wishes to keep her design credit simple in my book, but for here, I am writing the credit I really wanted to use: “Cover design by Zelle, talented friend extraordinaire.”

Thank you, Z. I know it’s been a hectic summer for you and you had that aggravating setback with the power outage. But you came through and now just look at this!! 🙂 I hope you’re very proud of it.

I’ve already uploaded this to my CreateSpace page, and now all that’s left is the text. Surprise, surprise — finalizing that had a complication. When I converted my Word 2003 to a PDF, using the online service I’d chosen, I discovered that while the PDF looked good overall, the fonts matched, etc., the line breaks all changed. Fortunately, it didn’t affect the page count. However, a ton of extra hyphenation was introduced.

A lot of it was improper or awkward hyphenation, like mi-nutes, ba-by and the hyphenation of proper names (Be-thany). I let those go, even though they chafed at me. But I absolutely could not ignore stuff like these: proo-freader, an-yway, ma-keup, coo-kie, the-rapist. So, because I can’t alter the PDF, I had to go through my Word document and edit the areas where bad hyphens showed up, in order to eliminate them.

So far, I’ve edited and resubmitted my document for conversion four times, because I keep finding things. But now, I am down to just one bad hyphen to fix, and after that, I am done, done, done. I will submit the interior, and then they go to work on it, reviewing and creating a proof copy for me.

Home stretch, y’all! 😀

Wednesday potpourri

Today, I’d like to call your attention to one of the funniest blogs I’ve ever read, and that is not hyperbole. (Oh, look it up. :-Þ) Our friend Zelle has outdone herself, writing her tale of woe over two weeks of, er, a certain privilege denied. The pictures alone will have you falling off your chair. If you haven’t read this yet, hunker down, go check it out and prepare to howl. Avoid sipping liquids or eating solid food during this time, unless you have someone nearby to apply the Heimlich maneuver.

Second, a few clips from The Wife and the Prostitute, one of the vignettes I shot with Paul and Sarah, is up on Sarah Gregory Spanking, which is her video pay site. I watched the first three mini-clips yesterday. You know, when you’re in the midst of shooting these things and they’re unscripted, you don’t remember what was said until you see it later. Damn, but it’s funny! Sarah is hilarious as the hooker — I laughed my butt off watching her protest as Paul spanks me, “Yo! I am not getting paid to watch this kinky s*** go down!”

Usually by Wednesday, I’m fully recovered by Monday night’s activities. Today, however, I find myself still quite tender, deep into the muscle. Now I don’t know if that’s because of working out the past two days or that other workout, but it’s quite pleasing. 🙂

Countdown to the Oscars on Sunday! Who’s watching them? Who’s seen what? John and I are not big moviegoers, so we’ve seen a whopping two of the nominated flicks, but they were the biggies: The King’s Speech and The Social Network. I’m casting my vote for Colin Firth. Holy moly, that man is yummy. Oh… and yeah, he gave a good performance too. 😀

I’m scattered today. Can you tell? Spending way too much time on FetCrack… er, Life, getting into controversies over icky photos, arguing with asshats and perving on hot pictures… BAD! Focus, Erica. Time to stop babbling and go do something productive.
